Charlie, typically a smaller aperture (higher number) will give you more of the star effect and a larger aperture (small number) will give give you a round ball when shooting the sun. I've noticed it also varies from lens to lens as a good aperture to use. The lens I was using usually gives a pretty good star burst at F/16, but I just went another stop to give myself some insurance and hopefully more effect.

Patsy, I can't really give you an accurate time frame. My strategy was basically tell the program to stitch it and walk away. I came back to check on it every 15 minutes or so until it was done. I would guess it took somewhere around 45 minutes for the program to stitch all the images together. Then the file was so large, converting it to B&W took the computer another 15 minutes or so. The final image after the B&W conversion was around 900MB (in TIFF format). I found a megapixel calculator online that said the final image was 143MP with an aspect ratio of 1.57:1.

Cecil, the black and white photo is outstanding. How long did it take you to get all of this together? I am just curious. I think that the photo merits all the time that you spent. It is outstanding!

Hey thanks Cecil. I feel I am learning a lot from you and others. Seems I used to just start clicking away. I now try and take time and think the shot through like you have done here. Thanks for sharing.

The last image is awesome where you captured the clouds reflected in the lower pool.
I love the first one, you really have your water shots down...good lens to go along with great talent!! Clear and sharp and flowing water, couldn't ask for more than that...great job and much better way to spend a day than with the crowds watching fireworks!
